For our first real dinner party we had shrimp scampi, with a huge arugula salad with lemon based dressing. We did it proper- it took us three batches took cook our lovely shrimp in a very large frying pan, bunches of parsley, two pounds of pasta. For desert we had huge strawberry shortcakes with buttermilk drop biscuits, the strawberries with balsamic and sugar and we all handed the cream around and took turns whipping it.
We started with wine, but ended the night with vodka lemonades- blitzed
This is our friend Rebekah, she did a lot of the pasta cooking. This also shows how shitty our tiny little kitchen was, with a little electric stove with three working burners and almost no counter space

gettin started

For our first dinner in our summer home my platonic wife, my life partner, and I made pasta with a super simple vegetable ragu -of sorts- with fennel, carrots, celery etc, with optional fresh mozzarella. Sauteed asparagus with lots of lemon juice on the side, and enough white wine to kill a small single mom. It was more glamorous than it looks.
